Makeup Tips File Drawer #17

Ref 871. I have very deep set eyes. How can I make them stand out more?

Response to 871. For deeply set eyes draw a fine line just above the upper lashes. This will have a tendency to bring the eyes forward and out from under the browbone.

Ref 872. Is there anything i can do to make my freckles fade? do those freckle fading creams work or do they dry out your skin? thx - monique

Response to 872. Stay out of the sun and wear a sunscreen. Clientele products has a few nice fade creams....check them out.

Gloria

Ref 873. Do you happen to know what the name of the self tanning lotion that Baywatch uses?

Response to 873. Tanning booths are made to block out most or all of the UV-B rays. That is good but the UV-A rays, on which the machines rely to do the tanning will still be at work aging skin at deeper levels. There is no safe way to tan and still preserve young skin. I don't know of any tanning equipment that has eliminated both UV-A and UV-B rays.

Ref 874. Hi Gloria, do you know of any moisturizing yellow toned foundations for dry skin?

Response to 871. I think what you want is a mauve-tinted cream. The cream form will work for your dry skin. Check at your Beauty Supply Store.

Gloria

Ref 875. I have bulging eyes. How can I conceal this with make-up?

Response to 875. Bulging eyes will appear less protruding when shaded with a brown, gray or other earth tone shadow. The deepest color should be close to the upper lashes fading gradually up to the browbone. Matte-finish shadows are best.

Ref 876. Hi Gloria, does sleeping on your stomach or side have an influence on causing wrinkles on your face?

Response to 876. Thank you for this question... sleeping on your stomach stretches the delicate skin of the neck. Sleeping in the prone position causes the skin on the face to crease, those creases, which are pressed in the face over time become permanent. Stomach sleeping puts a stress on the lower back also.

Ref 877. My skin is clear, I am very happy with it, except for an acne scar on my nose. It is over a year old, and it's no linger red, but it is higher than skin level, and it's already turned white.
My doctor said to keep putting acne medicine on it to keep exfoliating the top skin layers. I was wondering if alpha hydroxy or vitamin e oil will have a faster and better effect, or would they even help at all? I heard that vitamin e is good for scats, but only recent ones.
Any ideas?
Leslie

Response to 877. Vitamin E oil is very good for healing. Did you take up to 600 iu of vitamin E and 300 milligrams of pantothenic acid daily for 3 months as you applied the E to the scar? And there is always laser surgery to lighten scars.

Gloria

Ref 878. Does toothpaste really work on zits?

Response to 878. Toothpaste works on cleaning and protecting the teeth. Why use toothpaste when there are hundreds of acne medications on the market.

Gloria

Ref 879. Hi,

How can I make my lipstick stay on longer???

Thanks

Response to 879. Apply your lipstick, then blot with tissue, apply powder lightly and reapply the lipstick and blot again. This will help your lipstick stay on longer.

Gloria

Ref 880. My face always seems so pale. I apply a blush color on my cheeks but are you suppose to also apply it to your forehead and chin?

Response to 880. You can apply blush to the forehead and chin for extra color.

Gloria

Ref 881. Hi Gloria, you did a great job answering the questions, so I don't have one now. I did however want to answer the one about the blow-dryer cool button. This button does have a purpose. The heat from your hair dryer makes your hair more pliable by breaking down the hydrogen bonds. It sets when it is cool. So if you want your hair to keep it's shape all day, you should use the cool button.
Thanks!

Response to 881. Thank you for the cool answer.

Gloria

Ref 882. I'm doing my senior paper on the history of mak-up and why it's such a big part of many peoples lives, I'm having trouble finding anything, do you have any ideas on where I should look ?

Response to 882. Look under medicine and religions for the history of makeup.

Gloria

Ref 884. I really would like to know, on how I can my makeup look great.

Response to 884. Apply natural colors to your eyes, lips and cheeks.

Gloria

Ref 885. I'm a 19 year old female with an only problem of small lips! I know
how to shape them to make them apear larger, but the only colors that
work for that are the dark ones, and dark colors do NOT look good on
my face, and light colors don't define them at all! I don't have that
natural definition to my lips like people with the full ones do.
Please help, I would like to look and feel more sexy.

Response to 885. Use the Face Exerciser which is my pocket size gym for your face. It is the only device on the market to enhance and fill out the lips without injections. Try a natural lip pencil to line your lips then apply a lighter shade.

Gloria

Ref 886. I used to have really bushy eyebrows, but plucked them over two years
ago for better shape and grooming. The thing is, I don't like the
shape I gave myself, I don't like using eyebrow makeup, and theres not
enough brow there to get them reshaped professionally. Do you have
ANY answers to my problem?

Response to 886. Look into permanent makeup (tattooing) . permanent makeup can fill in and give shape to your eyebrows.

Gloria

Ref 887. I'm in my early twenties and don't have any major face problems, and people are always
comenting on how I'm a pretty young woman. The only problem I do have is my nose! I feel that
it's too large(for my liking anyhow), and I would like to know if there is any way that I can make
it apear a bit smaller? I would greatly appreciate some advice!

Response to 887. Is your nose too broad or too long. Shadow sides of nose to thin it; under tip to shorten it.

Gloria

Ref 888. Are my cheek bones the "apples" of my cheeks when I smile, or are cheekbones located right under neath the eye and a little upward and out? I've heard when you smile the "apples" are the bones, but it just feels like a bunch of my face gathering there.
Do you know where the cheekbones are?

Response to 888. The cheekbones are located right underneath your eyes and a little upward and out.

Gloria

Ref 889. I don't neccisarily wan't to make my eyes appear larger, but I want them to stand out an look sexy. How can I achieve this?

Response to 889. Apply eye shadow beginning at the base of the lashes where the color should be deepest. Use your fingertips to blend it upward to the browline. The color should diminish in intensity as it is blended away on the browbone. Add a second color to the depth area up onto the browbone where it should fade away.

Gloria

Ref 890. I have noticed my self tensing up in the face area at night befor I fall asleep. I try to catch it and correct it, but I also found myself doing it during the day. This has started to give me light forhead lines, starting of crows feet, and my laugh lines are noticeable. I'm only
19! How can I make the lines go away, AND stop the tensing? Please, Please have an answer for me.

Response to 890. I have the book for you! Grow Young by discovering the cause of each wrinkle, and the 10 steps to ease them. This is a workbook to help you learn why you are tensing up your face and how to release it. This is the best time for you to start preventing wrinkles. Email. (gloriam@mindspring.com)

Ref 891. I'm going to have my photograph taken professionally. I really want to look great. I wear makeup on a daily basis. For this picture, should I wear the same amount as I always do, or should I wear more? I do not want to look like I sat for a Glamor Shot, but I want to look good. What do you think? (I have light brown hair and very fair skin.)

Response to 891. Use an eyelash curler to give them a more attractive tilt. The mascara frames the eyes and will increase their dramatic qualities, define their shape and size, and intensify their depth and color.

Gloria

Ref 892. my face has alot of hair on it ? what should i do/

Response to 892. Have a facial waxing.

Gloria

Ref 893. I am going to take professional senior pictures. I do not wear make-up but I was wondering where I could go to find colors that go with my skin tone. Is there a chart that cosmetic counters have or do I have to get the make up put on by a professional? I really do not have the money for a professional, so what should I do? Thank you!

Response to 893. You can do your own professional skin color analyzes and then learn how to apply those makeup colors to yourself, professionally. My book Grow Young covers these topics and more. Email me.

Gloria

Ref 894. dear gloria,
I wear loreal feel naturale liquid makeup.
I wear a little bit of concealer under my eyes and when I put on the
liquid on top of it it looks bad.
should I wear pressed powder or loose on top of it to make it look like less
powder on my face??
also my face has dry flaky skin on it all the time even when I exfoliate.
how can I get rid of the flaky skin??
CM

Response to 894. Don't put any powder under your eyes, it will accentuate any lines that are there. Try using less concealer and patting on the liquid makeup. Use my Enzyme Mask to exfoliate the flaky skin. Look up my page of skin care products.
